Breyer Stablemate Mystery Foal 2018 Families Review

Hello everybody,
Long time, no post... Unfortunately, I have been feeling uninspired and as well as busy. I have managed to acquire 3 Breyer Stablemate Family with a mystery foal sets release of 2018 and decided to review them! Now, I don't see them on the Breyer website but the tack shop and hobbyist who I go to for my Breyer purchases has already managed to snag some! I will be going over each stablemate in detail, now let's begin!

My lovebird parrot, Peach(y), supervising the photo taking. I opted for a white backdrop in the end instead!

Family 1: Andalusian Stallion and Running Mare
Family 1: Andalusian Stallion, Running Mare and Standing Foal molds
As you can see in the picture above, we have a new SM mold (Kitty Cantrell's Running Mare) for the regular run collection!

The Andalusian stallion is a gorgeous creamy buckskin with a large star on his forehead and 4 white socks. I don't think that Breyer has done this type of buckskin colour on any of the other regular run stablemates. Now, let's compare how it looks like with other buckskins that I have:

As you can see, it is the lightest and most yellow out of these three buckskins. It is matte and does not have any shimmer to its colour and looks very creamy compared to the two that are on his left.

Here, he is captured by my other Andalusian stallion in the same mold. I think both are now going to be apart of my OF Mini show string! (Which will be a wooping 27 member OF mini show string!). I adore the mold which Brigitte Eberl created but very VERY tippy mold. Both are responsible for the constant dominos in my mini collection. I do think that Breyer has over sprayed the mane on the creamy buckskin but it is pretty typical of Breyer to do that in the buckskins from what I have noticed and own.

Up next: The Running Mare by Kitty Cantrell

This is a brand new model and mold in my collection! Previously she was pretty exclusive (BreyerFest 2017, Porcelain and Premier Collection).

To be honest, I was not excited or "oh I cannot wait until she is released as a regular run" mood with this mold. But once I got her in the Breyer 2018 Mystery Foal Family... I was pleasantly surprised.

She is a very nice shaded dark bay and has 3 white socks. But her head seems to be a little to large for her very slim body. I have not decided what breed I will assign on her yet but she is going to be part of my OF mini show string!

Up Next: Standing Foal by Jane Lunger

This will be my 2nd foal on this mold and at first I was not too excited about this foal either from looking at the sneak peeks that I am sure we all got to see back in December 2017. Again, he was a pleasant surprise!

A very soft champagne colour with BLUE eyes! I think this is a first for a breyer foal to have blue eyes! He is going to be joining my OF Mini show string as well and I think he is definitely the favourite model from this family! I don't have any champagne models that I could compare his colour to but both this foal and his dad (Andalusian stallion) have a very creamy soft colour.

Family 2: Rivet and G4 Drafter
I think I am disappointed with this family pack, not because of the models but the fact that Breyer decided to put 2 stallions instead of a stallion and a mare. I am not sure why they would do that either. But with the genders aside, I think this is my favourite pack! I will explain shortly:

Rivet is a gorgeous stone blue roan colour, I know it looks a little green in these pictures but my phone (oh by the way, all these pictures were taken by my Samsung S7) and it seems to prefer him in green!

He has a nice large star and 4 socks to complete this look! He is very matte as well.

I adore this mold by Jane Lunger! He is my 2nd in this mold (I also have the Red Roan Mustang from the Stablemate assortment) and I am in love with both of my Rivets! Very happy to acquire another one and both of them are roans! I also adore roans...

Up next: G4 Drafter by Kathleen Moody

Now this one I did not expect to like! I don't particularly like the mold but I seem to be very picky about my drafters but this chocolate bay I seem to have fallen in love with!

He is EXTREMELY shiny! I would not call him Glossy but he is definitely not Matte either! He is also going into my show string! It seems like all the stablemates that I have gotten this year are joining the show string! He is my 2nd on this mold as well... Both of those I've gotten through mystery foal family packs!

Up Next: Lying Foal by Jane Lunger

Now with this one, there is a different story. I LOVE the lying foal mold! It is also a 2nd on this mold and both also just like the G4 draft came from a mystery foal family pack!

She (I think), is a beautiful bay roan with 2 little socks on her hind legs.

Who is also joining my show string! Now, this pack is my favourite from the 3 that I have acquired because of the colours and Rivet and lying foal mold!

Family 3: Arabian and Valegro

This pack is by far the most disappointing pack that I have ever acquired (which are 5 in total counting these 3). Read on to find out why:

Breyer went for this fleabitten grey colour which is nice and I don't think they have done one like this previously. I already adore the mold (which was created by Jennifer Scott), BUT his deformed leg was the biggest disappointment

As you can see in this picture his front leg has this bit of plastic or paint stuck on him? It may have been plastic because I was unable to just snap it off.

Otherwise, he has a very nice large star and 2 white socks on his hind legs. I was looking forward to this pack the most because of the new colour and the mare. Sadly, he would not be joining my show string... He might get customized later or I might keep him, unsure yet since I really do like his colour!

Up Next: Arabian by Kathleen Moody

This is another new mold I was excited to add to my collection! I didn't have an Arabian stablemate in my collection and finally I have one!

She has a beautiful metallic chestnut chrome-y colour with a very nice tobiano paint pattern

4 white socks and a blaze!

Her back was so nice that I decided to take a picture of it as well! I think she is my favourite from this pack! And she is nice enough to add to my show string as well! Now... I officially can enter every OF Mini class (excluding the long ears/donkey/mule class)!

Up Next: Scrambling Foal by Sarah Rose

This will be my 3rd model on this mold. Which I like, but they are very tippy... Constantly falling and making a domino effect on my foal collection... Which is why they are always laying down on their sides on my shelf after experiencing 10 domino effects from them -_-

I like the pattern that Breyer has chosen but the paint job was terrible on this one (although it might be just mine!)

Lots of spots where it looked like the model was bumped into something while the paint was drying in the painting process. This guy won't be joining the show string and staying home!

Well, that's all for this post! Any thoughts on the new releases from Breyer this year? Any favourites? Should I do another review of a 4 Stablemate pack 2018 (Wild At Heart set) that I bought this year? Leave a comment below with your thoughts! :)

"Fire & Ice" Arabian SM Scale Set

I ordered a few carpets off of Amazon around the same time I finished up my "Hyacinth" set (lavender + purple + pink set). They came in around a week ago and I decided to give another shot at making an arabian SM scale costume for my lonely arabian artist resin (Paisley) mare.

This set, I decided to call "Fire & Ice", because of the colours that I have chose of course but as well as a Game of Throne reference as well.

In my opinion, I think this set turned out better than the last one that I have completed! Now, if only I had a few more arabian SM scale models that I could show this set on se well!

I cannot wait to show this set at the next live show!

Right: Hyacinth set, Left: Fire & Ice set

I chose not to add tassles to the bridle/halter because Paisley's face is a little small and I feel like it would just cover up her whole head!

Any critics? Feel free to comment! All feed back is appreciated :)

Making an Arabian Native Tack Set

Stablemate sized tack is always hard, an Arabian native set seemed impossible... But since I got my Arabian resin, in November 2016, it inspired me to make a set specifically for her.

Sculpted by Deborah McDermott and painted by Amanda Dionne
The lady that I bought her from (2nd hand or maybe even 3rd) sent her out all the way from Australia! I love Australia and it was a coincidence that my very first Artist Resin turned out to fly in from there :)

I started with making the halter part first, this seemed simple enough, but the chain was a pain to find that didn't look big on her face!

Next I started on the neck piece and attached 2 little tiny braids, I decided that this set is going to be lavender, purple and berry pink.
Next came measuring the saddle part and of course making the saddle tree...

Peach decided he wanted to be a part of my tack making as well!

Embroidery was a bit of a pain.... I think I have redone the pattern at least 5 times!

In the background you can see that I was watching Spirit and looking at reference pictures

Tassles have been made!

I think it took me around 2 whole days to complete this set!

Paisley all tacked up (her show name is "Whispers of Love" as she is a 3rd year anniversary present from my boyfriend)

Taken with flash

A penny for scale reference!

Taken without flash
Lessons have been learned: just buy a Turkish or Arabian style carpet and use that as patterns on the saddle instead of doing tiny embroidery on a tiny saddle! There may be another Arabian set being made for her soon ... Since I ended up ordering 8 little carpets from Amazon yesterday!

Toronto Live 2017 Model Horse Show Report

Hosted by Lisa Sharpe in Toronto, Canada on April 29th, 2017.
Note: Pictures are taken by me unless I saw that I own a particular horse, that means that it is not owned by me! I am happy to add the names of owners underneath the pictures, so please contact me via comments!

This year was Canada's 150th birthday, the hostess had this in mind when designing the Grand & Reserve Champion Rosettes!

This time around, I had a lot more horses in my show string for my 3rd Live Show attend, pretty much all my traditionals came except Totilas (Breyer OF) and a handful of minis also did not make the cut. But I am confident to say that 80% of my collection came! Also, in the past shows I have only participated in OF Breyer, OF Stone and OF Minis (as well as a novice CM class in my 2nd show), in this show I participated in: OF Breyer, OF Stone, OF Minis, Novice CM, Novice Performance, Artist Resin and Fun Classes.

My Table
In my previous 2 shows, I used half of the table but this time around I ended up using more. But again, half were occupied by horses and the other half with performance and paperwork. I ended up purchasing quite a few models during this show but more on that at the end ;)

Erica's table on the left and Andrea's table on the right

Erica and Andrea were my table neighbours at this show, finally! We have been trying to get tables near each other during the last show but unfortunately due to the public transportation system I ended up being late to the show by 5 minutes. This time around, my boyfriend and I were not using the public transit system and came to the show pretty early :)

Breyer OF Thoroughbred Class
OF Breyer classes are always very full and I entered in my Sam (on the Cigar mold), Zenyatta (Lonesome glory mold) and Northern Dancer (John Henry mold). My Zenyatta ended up getting 6th in that giant class! Unfortunately, Sam (who I acquired from Andrea and he placed 9th at BreyerFest in a very large thoroughbred class) and Northern Dancer (not surprised about him) did not place.

Open Performance
I did not compete in Open Performance but Erica did. Andrea and I are still in Novice Performance :)

Open Performance

NANANANA Batman!

Erica's Open Performance Entry
Erica did really well in Open Performance! She went on to win a Grand Champion Rosette in Open Performance!

Open Performance - Costume

Open Performance - Costume
Open Performance class is always my favourite class because all the great entries it has! I feel like this class is always really hard to judge because of the variety.

Erica's mini got the Grand Champ Rosette in Open Performance!

Onto Novice Performance:
Novice Performance - Western Other
My Mini "Breakaway Cow" entry ended up placing 5th! Andrea's Barrel Racing entry placed 4th :)

Novice Performance - Western Other, My "Breakaway Cow" entry
I was pretty surprised with how I did in Novice Performance because I made the tack myself and was just competing just for fun!

Novice Performance - English Other
My "Show Jumping" entry got 4th and Andrea got 6th :)

A Closeup of my "Show Jumping" Entry
Onto Novice Performance Costume and Other Entries!

My little set up of a picture I saw on the internet

My two entries placed 5th and 4th
My boyfriend bought me this Arabian presentation set got me this from MH$P for my birthday!

This was a tough novice class as there were so many great entries!
Lynn's entry

My Novice Performance Entries ended up being:
English: 4th in English Other (Show Jumping), 2nd in English Pleasure, and 3rd in a Fun Class "Tack made by Owner".
Western: 4th in Western Pleasure, 5th in Western Other (Breakaway Cow), and 3rd in a Fun Class "Tack made by owner"
I am not sure how "Tack Made by Owner" class was judged xD
Costume & Other: 4th in Other (Arabian Presentation Set), 5th in Other (Ribbon Stall), 5th in Costume (Arabian, which I forgot to take a picture of), 6th in Costume (Arabian presentation set made by me)

Now onto OF Stone!
A very large Arabian class
I was again surprised on how my horses have placed as there were so many pretty Arabians!

My 2014 DAH and right beside him is Golden (chestnut) both owned by me
My 2014 DAH got 1st in Workmanship (as this show did not judge Stones based on collectibility) and 2nd in Breed!
My Chestnut (Golden) didn't place for the 2nd show in a row but that's okay!

Open Customs Division:

Open Customs, Lynn and Neena did really will in this category!

Neena's

Neena's

Neena's

My little draft, painted and customized by Lynn

This draft class was very large and my little draft did not end up placing... But that's okay! He did really well in the Autumn Live (NANed in Breed and Workmanship!)

Novice Custom - Other Patterns Class
All of my CMs ended up being in the same class and they did pretty well! My PS Weanling Appaloosa ended up placing 5th, and my Rabicano Black Lusitano got 3rd, My "Wild At Heart" pintaloosa colt SM got 1st place and went on to....

Win the Reserve Champion Rosette!!! 3rd Live Show is a charm as I was able to win one of these! :') *insert happy tears*

Now onto OF Minis! This time around my mini's didn't do so well but I did better in other categories!

My Mustang got 1st! My first and only NAN card in OF Minis

My Valegro got 6th in a very large warmblood mini class!
Now for Artist Resins! Which is my favourite division!

So many pretties and drooling Marina in this category!
This resin looks really similar to the SM scale resin that I want to get in the recent future, and he looks gorgeous!

Phoenix braided resin

Chewy!

I always show live show pictures to my mom and my mom is in love with this resin... Does this mean she will invest in me in order to fund him? No, I guess it ain't real love with this resin xD

Jenn's
Arabian AR is always a pretty big class, and this beauty (pictured above) got a few rosettes in the end as well! Too bad this live show I didn't take as many pictures as I wasn't feeling well...

Andrea's Mini Khemo painted by Nikki Button
Since I didn't take a picture of Andrea's Mini Khemo (his show name is Grenade), I am using the photo I took of him at the Autumn Live.

My Paisley Arabian Mare Resin (Deborah McDermott x Amanda Dionne)
My little arabian mare (there were only 2 minis in this class) and Andrea's Mini Khemo did surprisingly well in this monster of a class! Mini Khemo got 1st and 2nd (Breed and Workmanship) and went on to win a Reserve Champion Rosette! Paisley got 3rd in Workmanship and 5th in Breed! :D This was her first time live showing on Canadian soil.

My Live Show Loot!
I ended up buying a lot more than I thought I would... I was originally planning to buy 3 and walked away with 8! Breyer OF Sam, 5 Breyer SMs, 1 Breyer CM draft by Lynn and my very first Pewter resin!! Made my Maggie Bennett (Galloping draft).

This was a good live show :)

Live Show Report: Luck O'The Irish Live

Today's post brings us back to March 18th, 2018 in Acton, Ontario, Canada. This was a very last minute show for me as I signed up aroun...
